Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Holds Meeting with Sector Deputies to Discuss Labor Issues

His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zaouri, chaired an extensive meeting today at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Aden. The meeting included the ministry’s sector deputies and was attended by the International Labour Organization (ILO) Coordinator, Mr. Ali Dhaheq, to discuss a number of labor-related issues.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Zaouri emphasized the importance of continuing to reinforce institutional work within the ministry, praising the commitment and discipline of the ministry’s staff, and commending their professional performance despite current challenges. He stressed the need for coordination between the sectors to accomplish tasks according to the established plan and to submit periodic reports on schedule.
The meeting addressed the preparation of reports concerning labor conventions and instruments that have been canceled, withdrawn, or updated by the ILO, including those that have been ratified or are currently pending.
Discussions also covered mechanisms for coordination and strengthening the partnership with the ILO in programs and projects related to labor relations, the workforce, and decent work standards. Additionally, the meeting explored the logistical support and capacity-building needs of various sectors, especially those concerning the labor market, occupational health and safety, economic empowerment of women, and their integration into the workforce.
For his part, ILO Coordinator Mr. Ali Dhaheq praised the continuous achievements of the ministry under the leadership of Minister Al-Zaouri, highlighting the significant milestone of launching the ministry’s electronic platform. He also reviewed the tasks scheduled for implementation this year, most notably the execution of household budget surveys and workforce integration efforts, affirming the participation of the ministry’s team in these activities.
