The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mukhtar Al-Yafai, visited Yemen's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York today, where he met with Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi. The visit came following the Minister's participation in the 19th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP19), which was held at the United Nations Headquarters.
Minister Al-Yafai praised the important role played by Yemen's Mission to the United Nations in supporting government delegations and strengthening their presence in international forums. He noted that these efforts help convey the humanitarian and development challenges facing the country and mobilize the support needed for social and development programs.
The Minister emphasized that participation in the conference provided the delegation with a valuable opportunity to learn from successful international experiences and exchange expertise in the fields of social protection and the empowerment of persons with disabilities. He added that the conference also facilitated discussions on prospects for cooperation with United Nations agencies and relevant international organizations, contributing to the government's efforts to enhance social services and promote inclusion and empowerment for the most vulnerable groups.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Saadi reaffirmed the Mission's commitment to continuing coordination and cooperation with various government institutions and to providing the necessary support to strengthen Yemen's presence and effective participation in the work of the United Nations and its specialized agencies.
