His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zouari, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, stated:
"Activating the pivotal role of social responsibility in bridging gaps, achieving sustainable development, and serving society with sincerity and dedication can only be realized through genuine partnership among official institutions, the private sector, civil society organizations, and individuals. Such a partnership is essential to confront social, economic, and environmental challenges in order to attain the ultimate goals of advancing towards development grounded in supporting education, enhancing digital and vocational skills to meet labor market needs, financing healthcare initiatives, assisting persons with disabilities and the elderly, empowering small and medium enterprises through funding and guidance, creating job opportunities for youth and graduates, providing training in entrepreneurship, strengthening the local economy, financing infrastructure and environmental projects, promoting the values of solidarity and volunteerism, and extending comprehensive care programs to poor families and orphans."
Minister Al-Zouari emphasized, during the inauguration of a workshop on social responsibility this morning in Aden, held within the framework of the project “Bridging the Gaps: Joint Action Between Government, Private Sector, and Civil Society for Local Solutions”—implemented by Nahda Makers Organization in partnership with Oxfam International and funded by the Danish International Development Agency—that:
"The legitimate government is carrying out economic reforms, reinforced by the unwavering support of the political leadership in the Presidential Leadership Council, with the backing of all national official and grassroots entities, financial institutions, and the private sector. Together, they strive to overcome obstacles and liberate national decision-making from the control of the terrorist Houthi militias and their affiliates—forces that have exploited the national currency, manipulating and weaponizing it to spread chaos and poverty, pursuing malicious political agendas through the starvation of our people and the deprivation of essential services such as salaries, healthcare, education, electricity, and water, with no regard for the prolonged suffering that has reached intolerable limits."
He concluded his remarks by expressing hope that the workshop would produce practical recommendations that strengthen coordination among stakeholders, open wider avenues for cooperation, and lead to the implementation of joint initiatives aimed at advancing development and providing vital services to society.
The Minister extended his gratitude to Nahda Makers Organization for organizing the workshop and to Oxfam for its support, wishing all participants success.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Salem Al-Wali, highlighted in his speech the exceptional challenges the country is facing—particularly on the economic front—underscoring the need to adopt a participatory approach that fosters integration among various sectors and mobilizes available resources to achieve socio-economic stability.
The workshop also featured contributions from Ms. Faiza Al-Tamimi, Chairperson of Nahda Makers Organization; Mr. Mohammed Basha, Programs Director at Oxfam; and Ms. Roqaya Ahmed, representative of the Regional Network for Social Responsibility.
During its first session, the workshop discussed the theme of humanitarian action and the role of the private sector in community development, with the participation of Mr. Saleh Mahmoud Hassan, Deputy Minister for the Social Welfare Sector. The second session, led by Ms. Faiza Abdul-Majid, Acting Deputy Minister for the Social Development Sector, addressed the theme of Civil Society and Development: A Decade of Effective Action and Partnership.
