Under the Patronage of Minister Al-Zawari: Training Workshop Launched in Aden on Gender-Based Violence and Case Management

This morning in the capital, Aden, a training workshop on “Gender-Based Violence and Case Management” was launched under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zawari, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor. The event is part of the “Women’s Protection for Community Development” project, funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and implemented by UN Women in Yemen in partnership with For All Foundation for Development.


At the opening session, Ms. Faiza Abdulmajeed, Acting Deputy Minister for the Social Development Sector, delivered a speech on behalf of Minister Al-Zawari, conveying his greetings to the participants. She emphasized the importance of taking full advantage of the information and knowledge provided during the training, and urged attendees to commit to active participation.


Ms. Faiza affirmed that the “Women’s Protection for Community Development” project aims to strengthen protection for women and girls who are survivors of gender-based violence, enhance the capacities of relevant institutions, expand specialized support services, and raise community awareness of women’s rights and protection needs.


For her part, Ms. Intisar Ameen, Project Manager at For All Foundation for Development, expressed her gratitude to the Ministry’s leadership for supporting the workshop. She noted that the training would help build the capacities of frontline workers in safe spaces and protection centers managed by the government and civil society organizations.


The workshop includes 50 male and female trainees, divided into two groups, with each group attending a five-day session. It is being conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. The project directly targets 18,000 women and girl survivors of gender-based violence, as well as 325 protection center staff. The estimated number of indirect beneficiaries reaches around 126,000 individuals from families and communities in Aden and Taiz governorates.
