Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zauri, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, held a consultative meeting today in Ataq, the capital of Shabwa Governorate, with leaders of civil society organizations in the governorate.
During the meeting, the Minister praised the efforts of civil society organizations and their key role in supporting local authorities and promoting development initiatives. He emphasized the Ministry's commitment to listening to the challenges these organizations face and working together to find appropriate solutions.
Minister Al-Zauri highlighted that the security stability in Shabwa, along with the opening of Ataq Airport for flights and the fruitful cooperation with local authorities, are encouraging factors for donors to expand their interventions and development projects in the governorate. He stated that the Ministry, in coordination with its office in Shabwa, will continue to support and empower civil society organizations to help meet community needs and implement effective and sustainable programs and projects.
The Minister also listened to the main demands and proposals put forward by civil society organizations, which included enhancing their participation in project implementation, providing programs for institutional capacity building, facilitating work procedures, and strengthening partnerships with donors.
For his part, Mr. Ali Ahmed Omeer, Director General of the Ministry’s Office in the governorate, welcomed Minister Al-Zauri, stressing that this visit represents a significant boost to the office’s efforts and strengthens joint coordination to achieve further progress. He also commended the active role of civil society organizations in supporting local development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of civil society organizations expressed their appreciation for Minister Al-Zauri's visit, which they saw as a reflection of the Ministry's commitment to supporting civic engagement and strengthening partnerships with various entities to achieve sustainable development in Shabwa. They reaffirmed their readiness to continue working collaboratively with international organizations, donors, and the private sector to achieve development goals.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Director of the Ministry’s Office, the Director of the Associations Department, and several office staff members.
