His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mukhtar Al-Yafaei, held discussions today at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Aden, with Save the Children on ways to strengthen cooperation and coordinate efforts in the field of child protection, contributing to improving children’s conditions and expanding program coverage across the country’s governorates.

Minister Al-Yafaei emphasized that child protection is a top priority for the Ministry, praising the organization’s efforts in implementing case management programs, psychosocial support, and promoting safe environments for children. He also stressed the importance of fair distribution of project areas and ensuring that interventions are closely aligned with actual needs on the ground.

The Minister noted that partnership with international organizations is a fundamental pillar in enhancing the effectiveness of interventions, stressing the need to shift support from emergency-based assistance to sustainable programs that achieve long-term developmental impact. He also highlighted the importance of aligning the organization’s activities with the Ministry’s general plan and strategic direction, pointing out that all observations and recommendations raised by partners are given due attention and incorporated into development plans.

For her part, the organization’s Country Director in Yemen, Ms. Richana Hanifa, reviewed the organization’s key interventions, particularly in child protection, psychosocial support programs, educational interventions, and community-based initiatives. She affirmed the organization’s commitment to expanding areas of cooperation and implementing high-quality projects that contribute to a more sustainable response to humanitarian needs.

The meeting was attended by the organization’s Director of Government Relations and Support Services, Ammar Fares, and the Director of Program Operations, Mohammed Momin.
