Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Council Commends the Role of the Swiss Government in Supporting the Child Protection Plan in Our Country

The Council of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Laber expressed its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Swiss government, represented by His Excellency Ambassador to our country, Mr. Thomas Orell, who reaffirmed his government’s continued support for the efforts of the Yemeni government and the Ministry in implementing social protection programs and the Child Protection Plan. He also praised the efforts exerted by the Ministry and its staff despite the challenges, difficulties, and limited resources—particularly in finalizing the National Child Protection Plan for the period 2026–2029.


This came during the Council’s regular meeting held this morning at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Aden, chaired by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zaouri, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, in which a number of issues on the weekly agenda were discussed.


The Council reviewed progress reports on the implementation of tasks assigned to the sectors and general departments. The Deputy Minister for Social Care presented a report on the ongoing preparations to launch the National Child Protection Plan in partnership with UNICEF, as well as the outcomes of the recent meeting with the Swiss Ambassador and UNICEF’s Deputy Resident Representative. The Council also heard a briefing from the Head of the National Team for the National Plan on Women, Peace, and Security regarding the achievements of the National Committee on Women, Peace, and Security during its first phase. The Council hailed these accomplishments, considering the plan a pioneering model to be emulated locally and nationally, and valued the effective role of the Head of the National Team in its implementation.


During the meeting, several members presented reports on their previously assigned tasks, which were discussed and approved by the Council. New assignments were also approved, with reports on their progress to be reviewed at the next meeting.
