His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zauri, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, met today in the capital, Aden, with the Country Director of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Yemen, Dier Dray, to discuss ways to expand the council's interventions to include various segments of society, including host communities affected by the ongoing war waged by the terrorist Houthi militia.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Zauri emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership between the ministry and the NRC, praising the council’s role in providing humanitarian support. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to offering all necessary facilitations to ensure the success of humanitarian projects.
His Excellency also pointed out that the legitimate government had previously issued international appeals to relocate the administrative and financial headquarters of international organizations to the capital, Aden. This call garnered significant regional and international attention, eventually reaching the corridors of the United Nations, where the Secretary-General urged international organizations to take this step. In this context, Minister Al-Zauri welcomed the appeal, expressing the ministry’s readiness to provide all necessary facilitations to ensure these organizations operate smoothly in Aden.
For her part, the NRC Country Director reaffirmed the council’s commitment to continuing its humanitarian efforts in coordination with the ministry and relevant authorities. She also highlighted the NRC's efforts to expand its operations and enhance communication with donors to increase the allocated humanitarian aid budget. Additionally, she expressed her gratitude to the ministry’s leadership for its support and facilitations.
