Minister Al-Yafei Discusses Strengthening Social Protection and Humanitarian Response with Nahd Development Foundation

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Mukhtar Al-Yafei discussed today, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Aden, with the Nahd Development Foundation ways to strengthen coordination in the areas of social protection and humanitarian response, and to direct interventions toward the most vulnerable groups in line with actual priorities and needs.
Minister Al-Yafei was briefed by Ibrahim Jamaan, Director General of the Foundation, on its activities in food and shelter assistance and its response to the needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs), particularly in Wadi Hadramout. He also outlined the Foundation’s projects in water and healthcare, as well as its previous contribution to the funding of an electronic platform.
Minister Al-Yafei underscored the importance of integrating the interventions of local organizations into the Ministry’s social protection plans and expanding their participation in care, rehabilitation, and capacity-building programs. He noted that this would help ensure coordinated efforts and avoid duplication of interventions.
He further highlighted the Ministry’s plans to establish a rapid emergency response committee, in coordination with the relevant ministries and government authorities, to identify priorities, coordinate efforts, and enhance the efficiency of responding to urgent humanitarian needs.
Minister Al-Yafei explained that the Ministry is moving forward with the development of its digital systems and the strengthening of its institutional capacities, which will facilitate the work of civil society organizations and improve mechanisms for communication and coordination with them. He emphasized the importance of building an institutional partnership based on clearly defined roles and responsibilities, contributing to improved service quality and sustainability and achieving a tangible impact for beneficiaries.
