Minister Al-Zaury Praises the Experience of the Labaous Consumer Cooperative and Affirms the Ministry's Support for Strengthening Cooperative Work

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zaury, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, praised the developmental achievements and outstanding community services provided by the Labaous Consumer Cooperative in Lahj Governorate. He commended its pioneering role in overcoming the challenges and difficulties it has faced in recent years.


This came during his meeting this morning at his office in the capital, Aden, with the Executive Director of the Cooperative, Qasim Saleh Al-Tamimi. Minister Al-Zaury expressed his pride in the resilience and steadfastness of the cooperative, despite attempts to marginalize cooperative work in the South. He affirmed that the achievements of the Labaous Cooperative serve as a model to follow in preserving shareholders' rights and safeguarding both fixed and movable assets.


The Minister further emphasized that the Ministry will provide the necessary support and facilitation to strengthen the cooperative’s activities and enable it to implement new developmental and service projects, in line with the applicable laws and regulations.


For his part, Executive Director Qasim Al-Tamimi reviewed the key milestones of the cooperative since its establishment in July 1972 by its founder, the late activist Yousef Abdullah Saad. He highlighted the difficult circumstances the cooperative had faced and the successes it achieved through the efforts of its leadership and shareholders.


As a token of appreciation, Al-Tamimi presented the Minister with the Cooperative’s Shield in honor of his supportive stance toward cooperative work, on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the cooperative’s founding.
