His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zaouri, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, today in the capital Aden, held discussions with Mr. Mohammed Momen, Acting Country Director and Director of Program Operations of Save the Children in our country, on ways to strengthen joint coordination in social protection and child protection activities, particularly following the launch of the Ministry’s National Social Protection Strategy 2025–2030 and the Child Protection Plan 2026–2029.

During the meeting, Minister Al-Zaouri stressed the importance of ensuring fairness in the distribution of projects implemented by the organization, so as to guarantee that they reach the most vulnerable groups across all governorates. He urged the organization to intervene in the Socotra Archipelago Governorate by implementing projects in the fields of education, child protection, social protection, and capacity building for associations and institutions working with persons with disabilities, in line with actual needs and the number of targeted beneficiaries.

The Minister commended the organization’s efforts and its effective role, in partnership with the Ministry’s staff, in preparing the educational dictionary for the deaf community, including its technical coordination and preparation for printing. He noted that this initiative will represent a qualitative leap in the education of the deaf, in addition to the organization’s support for initiatives targeting children with disabilities.

The two sides also discussed completing the implementation of case management training courses, referral pathways, and standard operating procedures, particularly following the approval of the training plan for social workers.

For his part, Mr. Momen expressed his pleasure at the meeting, praising the effectiveness of cooperation with the Ministry and affirming the organization’s readiness to implement the approved programs and activities within its plan.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to convene an expanded meeting with relevant specialists at the Ministry to review the full range of activities and programs agreed to be implemented by both parties.
