Exploring Coordination Between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Southern Transitional Council in the Field of Humanitarian Work

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zaouri, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, met this morning in his office in the capital, Aden, with Attorney Niran Souqi, Head of the Relief and Humanitarian Work Authority of the Southern Transitional Council.


During the meeting, they discussed several issues related to humanitarian work and the activities of international and local organizations in the field of relief and service delivery.


Minister Al-Zaouri highlighted the Ministry’s role in supervising civil society organizations and their humanitarian and developmental activities in the southern governorates and liberated areas, in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations, and in coordination with relevant entities.


He pointed out the challenges facing relief and humanitarian efforts, noting that through its Projects Committee at the central office, the Ministry has succeeded in directing institutional and organizational support to the most economically and socially needy areas. He emphasized the importance of close coordination with all active entities to address the obstacles facing such efforts. He also stressed the need to obtain beneficiary family data from official sources, under the supervision of the Central Bureau of Statistics, by conducting surveys and preparing forms containing accurate information about families in neighborhoods and districts in a scientific and professional manner to ensure fair distribution of aid.


Al-Zaouri praised the efforts of the Southern Transitional Council leadership, represented by President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, in supporting the activities of UN, international, and civil society organizations, facilitating the implementation of their humanitarian programs and projects, and removing obstacles that may hinder their operations. He emphasized the need to enhance coordination among all parties to ensure the continued flow of humanitarian aid to various regions.


For her part, Attorney Niran Souqi expressed her appreciation for the efforts made by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Al-Zaouri, in addressing the challenges facing humanitarian work and finding effective solutions. She stressed the importance of strengthening joint coordination between the Ministry and the Transitional Council in this field.


The meeting was attended by several Deputy Ministers and General Directors of the Ministry’s central office
