His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zaouri met this morning in his office in the capital, Aden, with Ms. Rishma Azmi, Country Director of Humanity & Inclusion, an organization working in the field of disability in our country.

The meeting discussed the importance of partnership between the Ministry, represented by the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, and Humanity & Inclusion in the field of disability, as well as the organization’s contribution to supporting the operation of the Hospital for Persons with Disabilities, which will provide a range of health, psychological, and social services to persons with disabilities.

The meeting also addressed the organization’s support to the Ministry in conducting comprehensive surveys of persons with disabilities nationwide, in order to establish a reliable database within the Ministry. This database will serve as a foundation for designing projects and programs to be presented to donors for adoption and implementation.

Minister Al-Zaouri further called on Humanity & Inclusion to work on building the capacities of national disability institutions, enabling them to fully carry out their mandated responsibilities and to continue providing services once international organizations complete their activities in the country.

For her part, Ms. Rishma Azmi provided His Excellency with a detailed briefing on the activities and programs implemented by Humanity & Inclusion, including the livelihoods project for persons with disabilities, as well as its interventions in the fields of health, mental health and psychosocial support, assistive devices, prosthetics for persons with disabilities, and mine risk education.

Ms. Azmi also explained that the organization is in the process of developing its strategy for the years 2026–2027, outlining its priority areas of work in light of the decline in donor funding.

She expressed her organization’s agreement to conduct a comprehensive disability survey in coordination with the Ministry, given its importance in establishing an inclusive and accurate database on persons with disabilities.
