This morning in the capital, Aden, a workshop on the Leadership and Transformation Approach for Building National Social Protection Floors was launched, as part of the capacity-building plan for the staff of the Social Welfare Fund, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

During the opening of the workshop, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Mr. Saleh Mahmoud, emphasized the importance of building the capacities of the Social Welfare Fund’s staff, as it represents the main gateway for providing care to vulnerable and extremely poor groups. He stressed that these cadres must be adequately qualified and trained to carry out their duties with ease by improving the quality of services provided and achieving the Fund’s objectives in supporting these groups. He also extended his thanks to the Fund’s leadership, represented by the Executive Director, Ms. Najla Al-Sayyad, and to UNICEF for its continuous support.

For his part, Mr. Talib Hamed, Director General of Beneficiary Development, stated that the workshop includes the participation of 25 staff members from the Social Welfare Fund from the directorates of the liberated governorates, including: Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Seiyun, Mukalla, Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Shabwa, Al-Mahrah, and Al-Hudaydah. He noted that the workshop will last for eight days and aims to enhance the capacities of the Fund’s staff in the field of social protection, as outlined in the Fund’s plan for capacity building and development, expressing his gratitude to UNICEF for its ongoing support to the Fund.

The launch ceremony was attended by Mr. Adnan Saeed, Director General of Relations and Media at the Ministry’s General Office, and Mr. Ali Al-Rifai from the Social Protection Policies Section at UNICEF.
