Al-Zawari Discusses with UN Official Ways to Protect Women's Rights and Enhance Safe Spaces Activities

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zawari, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, met today in his office in the capital, Aden, with Mr. Hisham Nahro, Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Yemen, to discuss ways to enhance the protection of women’s rights and support activities of safe spaces for women and girls.


Minister Al-Zawari emphasized the importance of expanding the scope of safe space services, which contribute to protecting women and girls from gender-based violence and responding to the increasing needs caused by the difficult humanitarian conditions resulting from the war.


The meeting reviewed the key challenges facing the Safe Space Center in the Crater District of Aden and the services it provides to survivors of violence. The minister stressed the need for continued support for the center by humanitarian partners to ensure the sustainability of life-saving services and to strengthen women's participation in economic and social fields.


Minister Al-Zawari also expressed the ministry's readiness to provide all necessary facilitation to streamline administrative procedures, ensuring improved service quality and tangible impact in the community.


For his part, Mr. Hisham Nahro expressed his appreciation for the level of cooperation between the ministry and the UNFPA, affirming the Fund’s commitment to continue supporting safe spaces and encouraging donors to intensify their efforts in enhancing women’s protection
