Ministers of Social Affairs, Labor, and Women’s Affairs Discuss Strengthening Women’s Empowerment and Social Protection Programs

His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mukhtar Al-Yafaei, met today at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Aden, with Her Excellency the Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, Dr. Ahd Jaasous, to discuss areas of joint coordination between the two ministries in the fields of women’s empowerment and the enhancement of social protection and welfare programs.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of issues related to supporting women’s economic and social empowerment programs, expanding women’s participation in the labor market, and developing initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and supporting productive families and the most vulnerable groups.
Minister Al-Yafaei affirmed the ministry’s commitment to strengthening social protection programs and enhancing partnership and coordination with relevant entities in a way that supports development efforts and promotes social stability. He also emphasized the importance of developing innovative, high-quality programs designed to build women’s capacities and empower them economically, while transitioning from traditional activities to more impactful initiatives.
For her part, Minister Jaasous stressed the importance of integrating government efforts to support women’s issues and strengthen social welfare programs, as well as working to develop policies and legislation that safeguard women’s rights and expand their participation across various sectors.
