Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Discusses Enhancing Partnership and Women’s Empowerment with the National Women’s Committee

The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mukhtar Al-Yafei, met today in the capital, Aden, with the leadership of the National Women’s Committee to discuss ways to strengthen partnership and develop policies that ensure the protection of women’s rights and their economic and social empowerment.
The meeting reviewed areas of joint cooperation and the complementary role between the Ministry and the Committee in formulating and developing public policies, monitoring their implementation, and evaluating their impact. These efforts aim to integrate women’s issues into national policies and enhance their presence across political, economic, social, and cultural spheres.
Minister Al-Yafei emphasized the importance of building women’s capacities and expanding their participation in various fields, including political engagement. He noted the government’s commitment to involving civil society organizations as key partners in implementing plans and programs, and stressed the need to strengthen coordination with organizations working in the field of women’s empowerment.
He also highlighted the importance of enabling women to access decision-making positions by preparing and qualifying female leaders through specialized programs that meet current demands. He called for a shift from traditional activities to more impactful and sustainable programs that contribute to strengthening women’s capabilities and empowering them economically and politically.
The Minister also addressed several social protection issues, foremost among them the efforts made in cooperation with international partners to revive cash assistance programs and improve responsiveness to the most vulnerable groups. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s support for all national efforts aimed at serving people without discrimination.
For her part, the Chairperson of the National Women’s Committee, Dr. Shafiqa Saeed, praised the meeting, affirming her commitment to strengthening partnership with the Ministry and continuing joint efforts to improve the status of women. She also stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to implement programs and initiatives aimed at building women’s capacities and empowering them economically and socially, thereby enhancing their active participation in development.
