His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mokhtar Al-Yafaei, met today at the ministry’s headquarters in the interim capital, Aden, with Her Excellency the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Yemen, Janet Seiben, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in humanitarian, relief, and development fields.

During the meeting, several issues of mutual interest were discussed, foremost among them supporting humanitarian programs, strengthening social protection projects, and empowering women and youth. The discussions also addressed improving coordination mechanisms to ensure that aid reaches those in need efficiently and transparently, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of humanitarian interventions.

The Minister welcomed the Dutch Ambassador, expressing appreciation for the support provided by the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Yemen, particularly in light of the current economic and humanitarian challenges. He affirmed that the ministry is moving forward in reorganizing humanitarian work within an institutional framework based on partnership with donors, transitioning from emergency relief to empowerment and sustainable development pathways, and building an integrated national social protection system.

The Minister noted that digital transformation represents a key pillar for enhancing transparency and facilitating procedures, emphasizing the importance of benefiting from international expertise—particularly the Dutch experience—in digitalization and the development of social protection systems.

He also referred to the consultative meeting scheduled to be held in Aden, which aims to strengthen partnerships with international donors and civil society organizations and to develop a roadmap that contributes to unifying humanitarian efforts under a national framework.

For her part, Ambassador Janet Seiben affirmed her country’s commitment to continuing support for Yemen in humanitarian and development sectors, particularly in health, social protection, and the empowerment of women and youth. She praised the ministry’s direction toward institutional transformation and digitalization, expressing her country’s readiness to enhance coordination and cooperation to improve the efficiency and expand the impact of humanitarian work.
