Sunday, July 12, 2026
His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Mukhtar Al-Yafaei, met today at the Ministry's headquarters in the interim capital, Aden, with representatives of the Ethraa Foundation for Development, Empowerment and Humanitarian Response to discuss the nature of the Foundation's activities and interventions in the areas of healthcare, support for persons with disabilities, child-focused programmes, and humanitarian response.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Yafaei received a presentation outlining the Foundation's ongoing activities and projects across the health, social and humanitarian sectors, including initiatives supporting persons with disabilities, children, and care and rehabilitation centres, as well as the implementation of humanitarian and development programmes in Aden and several other governorates.
Minister Al-Yafaei underscored the importance of aligning the Foundation's activities with government priorities and the actual needs of targeted communities. He also stressed the need to expand the geographical scope of its interventions to reach districts and governorates with the greatest needs, based on field assessments and prior coordination with the Ministry and its local offices, while placing particular emphasis on programmes that address the circumstances of the most vulnerable groups.
The Minister further affirmed that the Ministry and its offices across the governorates are the official authorities responsible for regulating the work of civil society organizations. He emphasized the importance of adhering to institutional standards, engaging qualified professional staff, avoiding duplication of projects and overlapping beneficiary targeting, ensuring the equitable distribution of interventions according to assessed needs, and submitting periodic reports on implemented activities and their outcomes.
