Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Discusses Strengthening Community Empowerment Programs with PASS Foundation for Sustainable Communities

The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, H.E. Mukhtar Al-Yafei, met today at the Ministry's headquarters in the interim capital, Aden, with the leadership of the Peace for Sustainable Societies (PASS) Foundation to discuss opportunities for enhancing interventions in the areas of peacebuilding, women's empowerment, and legal support, in line with national priorities and the actual needs of local communities.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Yafei was briefed on the Foundation's mandate, its partnerships with international donors, the geographical scope of its interventions, and the programs it implements. Particular attention was given to its initiatives aimed at training and building the capacity of police personnel, raising awareness of the Crimes and Penalties Law and the Police Code of Conduct, as well as the overall number of beneficiaries. The discussion also covered the Foundation's activities in supporting women and promoting their participation in public and political life.
Minister Al-Yafei commended the Foundation's efforts and emphasized the importance of replicating successful experiences and programs in other governorates. He stressed the need to expand the reach of these initiatives in accordance with the specific needs of each governorate and in coordination with the relevant government authorities to ensure complementarity of interventions and maximize their impact on beneficiaries and local communities.
The Minister affirmed that the Ministry views civil society organizations and international donor agencies as key partners in implementing social protection and community empowerment programs. He underscored that such interventions should align with national priorities and adhere to the principles of good governance, transparency, monitoring, and evaluation. He further noted that the success of any intervention should ultimately be measured by its ability to deliver high-quality, practical programs that effectively address the real needs of society.
