His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mukhtar Al-Yafei, held a meeting today at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Aden, with a number of representatives from civil society organizations to discuss ways to strengthen partnerships and develop mechanisms for charitable and humanitarian work.

During the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Minister Dr. Sadiq Al-Jama’i, the Minister listened to presentations from the organization representatives. They reviewed their activities in the fields of health, education, shelter for internally displaced persons, and humanitarian assistance, as well as their geographic areas of operation, the level of coordination with donors, and the main challenges they face. They also highlighted their commitment to operating within legal frameworks, adhering to principles of transparency, and working under the supervision of the relevant authorities.

The Minister emphasized the importance of organizing charitable and humanitarian work within an institutional framework that ensures fair distribution of aid, directs it toward priority needs, and prevents duplication or deviation from its intended goals. He noted the Ministry’s efforts to expand partnerships with countries and international organizations in line with a comprehensive vision aimed at facilitating the work of active civil society organizations and helping them overcome difficulties and obstacles, in coordination with government bodies and donor partners.

He further explained that civil society organizations represent an effective arm of the government in implementing programs on the ground, stressing the importance of integrating official and community efforts to serve citizens without discrimination, in a way that enhances stability and supports the path of development.

For their part, the participants expressed their appreciation to the Minister for his engagement with their concerns, affirming their support for the Ministry’s direction. They also emphasized their commitment to strengthening partnerships and developing humanitarian work, while commending the efforts being made to regulate and advance the sector.
