Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Appeals for Relief to Victims of Floods and Torrential Rains in the Capital Aden and Lahj Governorate

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in the capital Aden has issued an urgent appeal to all international, regional, and non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, charitable institutions, and businessmen to support the efforts of the local authorities in the districts of Aden and Lahj Governorate by providing urgent humanitarian assistance to the affected families who have been stranded after their homes collapsed and their properties were lost due to the floods and heavy rains at dawn on Saturday, August 23, 2025.


The statement read:


The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in the capital Aden urgently appeals to all international, regional, and United Nations organizations, governmental and non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, charitable institutions, and businessmen to provide immediate support and assistance to the families affected by the devastating floods and torrential rains that struck the districts of Aden and Lahj Governorate on the morning of Saturday, August 23, 2025.


This natural disaster has caused the collapse and destruction of many homes, displacing hundreds of families who lost their shelters and possessions, leaving them in dire humanitarian conditions that require immediate intervention to provide food, shelter, and urgent healthcare. Severe damage has also been inflicted on infrastructure and public and private properties, further aggravating the humanitarian suffering of the population.


In light of its humanitarian and national responsibility, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor calls on all concerned parties to respond swiftly and provide the necessary medical, relief, and shelter assistance to alleviate the suffering of the victims and restore their safety and stability.


We sincerely hope that our partners in humanitarian and charitable work will rise to the aid of those affected in these difficult circumstances and stand by them in overcoming their ordeal.
