A specialized training workshop on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), common working principles, and the standards and requirements for entities working in case management was launched this morning in the capital, Aden. The workshop is organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, represented by the Social Welfare Sector (the Departments of Social Defense and Social Assistance), with support from Save the Children.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Saleh Mahmoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Social Welfare Sector, emphasized the importance of these capacity-building courses for social workers, as they qualify them in case management through benefiting from new concepts. He urged participants to work diligently, learn from one another, and exchange experiences, highlighting the positive impact this would have on their professional tasks. He also affirmed that the Ministry will continue to support them in carrying out their assigned duties, particularly in Lahj Governorate, which is in urgent need of strengthening child social protection mechanisms due to the difficult economic and living conditions faced by the community. He extended his thanks to the leadership of the Ministry’s office in the governorate, represented by Mr. Shukri Saib Abdulaziz, and to Save the Children for supporting such training programs.

For his part, Mr. Saib Abdulaziz Shukri, Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office in Lahj Governorate, commended the continuous support provided by the Ministry through organizing numerous specialized training courses for social workers and other programs that contribute to building the capacities of office staff. He stressed the importance of participants making maximum benefit from the workshop, noting that the governorate is approaching the implementation of projects with supporting organizations in the field of child social protection, particularly case management, which will require broad participation by a number of social workers attending this training.

A total of 25 social workers from the Social Affairs and Labor Office in Lahj Governorate are receiving, over a period of eight days, training programs and concepts on Standard Operating Procedures, common working principles, standards and requirements for entities working in case management, tasks and responsibilities, follow-up and periodic review mechanisms, and guiding principles for case management.

The workshop’s opening was attended by Mr. Ihab Mohammed Babreesh, Director General of Social Defense; Mr. Adnan Saeed Ali, Director General of Public Relations and Media; and Ms. Monia Mahmoud Azzani, Director General of Social Assistance and Head of the Technical Office at the Ministry’s General Office.
