His Excellency Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mukhtar Al-Yafaei, met today with His Excellency the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen, Mr. Thomas Schneider. During the meeting, they discussed avenues of cooperation between the two friendly countries in humanitarian and developmental fields, and ways to enhance and develop them to serve mutual interests and contribute to improving the living conditions of citizens.

His Excellency Minister Al-Yafaei reviewed government efforts underway to implement the economic reforms agenda, emphasizing the importance of support from international partners to enable the government to fulfill its role. This would positively impact the level of basic services and strengthen institutions' capacity to respond to economic and humanitarian challenges, alongside developing institutional performance and improving its efficiency in delivering services more effectively and efficiently.

The meeting addressed the importance of expanding areas of cooperation, particularly in supporting social protection programs. This includes improving targeting mechanisms to ensure support reaches those eligible efficiently and transparently, and empowering the most vulnerable groups, thereby contributing to poverty reduction and strengthening social cohesion. It also encompassed supporting sustainable development projects and building institutional capacities in line with the priorities of the current phase and enhancing opportunities for economic recovery.

In a related context, the meeting discussed the importance of the upcoming Southern Dialogue, scheduled to be held in the capital, Riyadh, under the auspices of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His Excellency the Minister affirmed that this dialogue represents an important opportunity to enhance Southern consensus and unify visions, contributing to supporting stability paths and building an effective partnership for the future. He stressed the necessity of uniting efforts to ensure the success of this national undertaking, reflecting the aspirations of our people and enhancing opportunities for achieving peace and sustainable development.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency the Minister expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen, particularly in the humanitarian and developmental fields, and its importance in alleviating the severity of the humanitarian situation and strengthening recovery and stability paths. He affirmed the Ministry's commitment to enhancing joint coordination and developing cooperation prospects to serve the interests of citizens.
