The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor expresses its profound concern and deep sorrow over the deteriorating humanitarian situation resulting from the horrific military attacks carried out by Houthi militias against several districts in Taiz Governorate — Al-Ma’afer, Maqbanah, Jabal Habashi, Mawza, Al-Wazi’iyah, and Dhubab — as well as the districts of Al-Khokhah and Hays in Al Hudaydah Governorate.

These attacks have forced thousands of innocent civilians to endure displacement, loss, and growing humanitarian hardship. The targeting of residential areas and displacement camps has further intensified the suffering of already vulnerable communities, particularly children, women, and older persons.

The rapidly deteriorating situation on the ground, along with the growing number of families forced to flee under the threat of bombardment, demands an immediate humanitarian response. The needs on the ground are not simply statistics; they represent people in distress who urgently require: 

1. Emergency shelter and adequate food assistance for displaced families in the areas where they have sought refuge.

2. ⁠Essential medicines and medical supplies for health facilities, along with immediate support to establish field medical units to provide care for the wounded and injured. 

3. Safe drinking water and basic sanitation services at displacement sites to help prevent the spread of disease and protect vulnerable communities.

Given the scale and urgency of the situation, the Ministry calls on civil society organizations, local volunteer teams, philanthropists, business leaders, and humanitarian actors across the country to move immediately from concern to concrete action on the ground.

The Ministry also emphasizes the urgent need for close coordination with its offices and local authorities in the affected governorates. Effective coordination is essential to clearly define responsibilities, prevent gaps and duplication, make the best use of available resources, and ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches all affected communities fairly and transparently.

The Ministry has full confidence in the national capacities and solidarity of the Yemeni people, including civil society organizations, philanthropists, and the business community. We firmly believe that collective action and solidarity at this critical moment can help protect affected communities and prevent the current situation from developing into an even greater humanitarian catastrophe.
