The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mokhtar Al-Yafai, discussed today, at the Ministry’s General Office in the capital, Aden, with Dr. Ibtihaj Al-Kamal, a member of the Supreme Committee for Tenders and Bids, a number of matters of common interest, as well as aspects related to enhancing the efficiency of supervision and follow-up of projects and programs associated with the Ministry’s work.

The meeting addressed ways to strengthen coordination on joint files, develop mechanisms for supervising and following up on implemented projects, and improve the level of technical, financial, and legal procedures associated with them, in a manner that contributes to ensuring the quality of implementation, reducing delays and stalled projects, and achieving the desired objectives and results.

Minister Al-Yafai praised the role undertaken by Dr. Al-Kamal during her tenure as Minister of Social Affairs, as well as her contributions during the stage of establishing and activating the Ministry’s work from the capital, Aden. He emphasized the importance of drawing on the foundational experience and benefiting from accumulated institutional experiences in developing structures, enhancing performance efficiency, and building upon what was achieved during the previous stages.

Minister Al-Yafai affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening its supervisory and regulatory role and developing mechanisms for following up on projects implemented through civil society organizations, in a manner that ensures compliance with the approved frameworks and standards, efficient use of resources, directing interventions toward actual priorities and needs, and achieving a tangible and sustainable social impact.

For her part, Dr. Al-Kamal emphasized the importance of clear technical and legal procedures governing projects from the initial preparation stages, strengthening follow-up and oversight of implementing entities, and verifying the extent of compliance with the approved specifications and plans, in a manner that contributes to addressing shortcomings, avoiding delays and waste, and achieving optimal use of available resources.

She pointed to the need to strengthen coordination between the Ministry and the relevant authorities in order to develop mechanisms for dealing with projects and programs subject to its supervision, and to work on addressing the procedural difficulties that they may face. She affirmed her readiness to contribute to supporting efforts aimed at improving the quality of supervision and follow-up.
