Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Mukhtar Al-Yafei, today held discussions at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Aden, with Dr. Ibtihaj Al-Kamal, a member of the Supreme Committee for Tenders and Auctions, on a number of issues of mutual interest, as well as matters related to enhancing the efficiency of oversight and follow-up of projects and programmes associated with the Ministry’s work.

The meeting addressed ways to strengthen coordination on shared areas of responsibility, develop mechanisms for overseeing and monitoring implemented projects, and improve the technical, financial, and legal procedures governing them. These efforts are intended to ensure quality implementation, reduce delays and stalled projects, and achieve the desired objectives and outcomes.

Minister Al-Yafei commended Dr. Al-Kamal’s role during her tenure as Minister of Social Affairs, as well as her contributions during the establishment and activation of the Ministry’s operations from the capital, Aden. He stressed the importance of drawing on her foundational experience and benefiting from accumulated institutional expertise in developing organizational structures, enhancing performance efficiency, and building on the achievements made during previous stages.

Minister Al-Yafei reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening its supervisory and regulatory role and developing mechanisms for monitoring projects implemented through civil society organizations. He emphasized the importance of ensuring compliance with approved frameworks and standards, promoting the efficient use of resources, directing interventions toward actual priorities and needs, and achieving a tangible and sustainable social impact.

For her part, Dr. Al-Kamal underscored the importance of ensuring clear technical and legal procedures governing projects from the earliest stages of preparation, strengthening oversight and monitoring of implementing entities, and verifying compliance with approved specifications and plans. Such measures, she noted, would contribute to addressing shortcomings, preventing delays and waste, and ensuring the optimal use of available resources.

She also highlighted the need to enhance coordination between the Ministry and relevant authorities in order to develop mechanisms for managing projects and programmes under its supervision and to address any procedural challenges that may arise. She affirmed her readiness to contribute to efforts aimed at improving the quality of oversight and follow-up.
