His Excellency Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Mukhtar Al-Yafai, today held talks with his counterpart, His Excellency Hassan Raddad, Minister of Labour of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on avenues for joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the fields of labour, employment, vocational training, and workforce development.

The two ministers also discussed ways to exchange expertise and benefit from successful experiences in developing labour market policies and programmes.

The meeting featured a visual presentation on Egypt’s “Mahani 2030” project, during which Minister Al-Yafai was briefed on the experience of mobile training units and the workshops and equipment they provide for training in air-conditioning and laptop and mobile phone maintenance, as well as programming and electrical skills. The initiative aims to bring training and workforce development services to remote areas, particularly rural communities.

The two sides also discussed a proposal to establish a joint committee between the two countries to cooperate in preparing the national employment strategy in Yemen and to benefit from Egyptian expertise and Egypt’s national employment plan in this field.

During the meeting, Minister Al-Yafai expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Arab Republic of Egypt for its warm reception and generous hospitality, as well as for the facilities and support it provided, which contributed to the success of the conference.

He praised Egypt’s experience in employment, vocational training, and workforce development, stressing that it represents a pioneering model that can be adapted to meet the needs of Yemen’s labour market. He noted that such cooperation would contribute to developing workers’ skills and enhancing their competitiveness, while expressing his aspiration to broaden areas of cooperation and expand the exchange of expertise between the two brotherly countries.

For his part, Egyptian Minister of Labour Hassan Raddad reviewed the key pillars of the national employment plan and the efforts being undertaken by the Arab Republic of Egypt to develop its vocational training system and align training and qualification programmes with labour market needs.

He affirmed the Egyptian side’s readiness to exchange expertise and experiences with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour and to strengthen joint cooperation in the fields of employment, vocational training, and workforce skills development.
