Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mokhtar Al-Yafai, today honored blind student Majed Najeeb at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Aden, in recognition of his outstanding academic performance in secondary school and the distinction he has demonstrated throughout his educational journey. The honor took place during the Minister’s meeting with the leadership and members of the Association for the Blind in Lahj Governorate.

The meeting, attended by the Minister’s Adviser for Persons with Disabilities, Shaker Barahmah, addressed the conditions and needs of blind persons in the areas of education, training, and empowerment. Minister Al-Yafai also listened to the association’s leadership as they outlined its activities and programs, as well as its efforts to develop the skills of blind persons, enhance their independence and social inclusion, and address the key challenges facing its work.

Minister Al-Yafai praised student Majed Najeeb as an inspiring example of determination, perseverance, and the ability to overcome disability. He commended his academic achievements, noting that the success and excellence of blind persons demonstrate the abilities and potential they possess—qualities that deserve support, recognition, and the provision of appropriate opportunities to enable them to continue their educational and professional journeys.

The Minister also highlighted the important role played by the association in serving blind persons and developing their capabilities. He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the rights of persons with disabilities, expanding opportunities for education, employment, and community participation, and promoting equal opportunities by empowering them to make meaningful and active contributions to society.
